TECHNIQUES AND SERVICES

Each patient and condition requires different types of treatments. Patients have different needs, depending on what stage of pain and discomfort they are in. After having a thorough Consultation and Examination with Dr. Randhawa he will be able to recommend the best plan of action to get you t your optimal health potential.

Diversified Technique - Spinal manipulation involves ‘retraining’ the spine and surrounding muscles to adapt to a healthier state of functionality. Dr. Randhawa will use his hands to place force on specific joints with the goal of placing them back into correct alignment, restore normal range of motion and take pressure off of surrounding muscles and ligaments.

Thompson Technique - uses a ‘drop table’ for adjustment, where a gentle thrust is applied to the joints, which in turn, sets the drop piece into motion and targets the specific joint or tissue.

Activator Technique - The Activator technique aims to restore the body by correcting vertebral and pelvic misalignments using an Activator instrument to push and set the joints back into the correct position.

Corrective Exercises - Patients are taught the special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Nutritional Counseling - Specific recommendations on healthy food choices and nutritional supplements to enhance the patient´s return to optimal health. Dr. Randhawa can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs.

Neuromuscular Reeducation -Neuromuscular reeducation is a therapeutic technique that is used to improve; Balance, Coordination, Posture and Proprioception (sense of body position). Treatment may include balance exercises  and wobble chair training. Another form of treatment is Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) - an assisted stretching technique alternating between contracting and relaxing the muscles being stretched.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
- This advanced form of soft tissue management initiates controlled micro trauma and a local inflammatory response, triggering re-absorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities resulting in structural remodeling of affected soft tissue structures. Adhesions within the soft tissue which may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, acute trauma, cumulative trauma disorder, or chronic inflammation (arthritis), are broken down, allowing full functional restoration to occur.

IASTM is performed with instruments made from stainless steel that detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localization and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or tissue degeneration.

IASTM Effectively treats:

Myofascial adhesions - Post Surgical Scarring - Nerve Entrapment
- Fibrosis
- Plantar Fasciitis - Tennis/Golfers Elbow

Trigger Finger - Chronic muscle tightness - and other soft tissues ailments.

Intersegmental Traction - The Intersegmental traction table mobilizes the spinal column while simultaneously and gently stretching ligaments and muscles. Intersegmental traction increases blood flow and oxygen to discs, ligaments and muscles, thereby improving balance, strength and mobility. Research shows that by putting your spine through this type of motion, you not only increase the range of motion of your spine but you pump the discs that are between the vertebrae of the spine.

Bio-Impedance Analysis

Bio-Impedance Analysis (BIA) is a non-invasive, diagnostic tool used to obtain objective data regarding a person's health status as well as monitor how their health is evolving.  This test produces sufficiently accurate data for little time and effort.  Individuals as well as health care practitioners need objective data to gauge whether or not health care and lifestyle protocols are working for them.  This is a scientifically validated procedure with over 2000 published research studies that have used this technology.

This data then provides a clinical assessment of body composition which includes fat mass, lean body mass, body cell mass, extracellular mass, total body water, intracellular water, extracellular water, basal metabolic rate, and phase angle.  Phase angle is a "buzz word" indicating cellular health and integrity.  Within the last few years there have been several published papers in major journals depicting phase angle as the best indicator for prognosis of survival for patients with cancer, immune system disorders, and kidney disease.  A normal distribution of tissue and fluid in the body is associated with immunity, high function, and longevity.  An abnormal distribution of tissue and fluid in the body is associated with susceptibility, effects of disease and aging, low function, morbidity, and mortality.

Your nervous system is an extensive network that channels nerve impulses from your brain to virtually every cell that makes up your body!

The chart below shows some of the integral relationships between the spine, nervous system and body. For simplicity, this chart does not reflect all the structures or paths utilized in nerve transmission. In some cases , nerve roots innervate other structures, such as plexuses and ganglia which in turn supply innervations to specific body parts.
